This lovely powder compact is a souvenir of the Golden Gate International Exposition, a Worlds Fair held to celebrate the building of two bridges. The Expo was held in 1939 and 1940. This souvenir compact is black enamelled metal, edged in silver tone metal. “Golden Gate Int’l. Exposition, San Francisco, Cal., Court of the Hemispheres” is printed on the image. A clear celluloid cover protects the lid decoration. The lid lifts to reveal a small round mirror, and a metal powder sifter.
CONDITION
🔸This powder compact is in good used vintage condition.
🔸The catch and hinge work well.
🔸The lid decoration is in good condition, with some scuffs to the celluloid layer.
🔸The mirror gives a clear reflection.
🔹The enamel has some lumpy patches, chips, scuffs, and light dints to the bottom. Please see the photos.
🔹The silver tone metal has marks, scuffs and tarnish. Please see the photos.
