Stratton powder compact, gold with red roses, c1960s or 1970s, vintage convertible makeup mirror
This beautiful Stratton compact, looks lightly used. It’s gold tone lid is decorated with a red rose transfer image. The underside has a star design with "Stratton made in England" in the centre, dating it to between 1965 and the early 1970s. The push-in clasp opens the compact to reveal the mirror in a gold tone frame. The patent number 764125 is inscribed under the mirror, and refers to the inner retaining ring. This compact was designed to be used with loose powder, when used with a sifter, or pressed powder. The inner ring keeps the pressed powder tray in place.
CONDITION
🔸This vintage Stratton compact is in very good used condition.
🔸The mirror gives a clear reflection, with a few small mirror spots across the glass.
🔸The hinges and clasps all work as they should.
🔸The exterior gold tone is bright and shiny, with no scuffs to mention, and only minor tarnish to the interior. Please see the photos.
🔸The lid is in excellent condition, with a tiny lump in the varnish from new.
🔹A slight bulge in the mirror frame and scuffs around the catch, from replacing the mirror. Please see the photos.
